Jose is a public policy advisor and consultant lawyer at the private and the public sector in Colombia in issues related to (business and) human rights, corporate sustainability, transitional justice and environmental law. He is Adjunct Professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia) in Business and Human Rights and Transitional Justice.

His recent experience includes consultancy on the territorialization of Responsible Business Conduct standards; he currently provides legal advice to the National Federation of Provinces (Colombia) seeking for the implementation of a Monitor on ESG factors at the local level, and advice to the Colombian government on the National Action Plan. He has worked at the energy sector, being the Sustainability and HSEQ Manager of the Empresa de Energía de Bogotá, a multilatina where he set up the corporate model on sustainability. At the Office of the Colombian Inspector General, he led the enactment of the Directive No. 01/2014, which adopted the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights for the Colombian Ministry or the Public. He has led research processes concerning social and environmental best management practices at the Amazon basin (Institute for Development Impact), and legal routes for obtaining victim´s reparation due to corruption cases (Transparency International -Colombian Chapter), and due to armed conflict (Office of the Inspector General).

Jose holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota), a Masters of Arts (MA) in Development Studies with Specialization in Human Rights and Social Justice at the International Institute of Social Studies (The Hague), and a postgraduate course on Armed Conflicts Resolution at the Universidad de Los Andes (Bogota). He obtained a GRI G4 certification diploma on corporate sustainability.
