Doreen Chow
Procter & Gamble
Director, Human Resources
Doreen is a champion for all kinds of diversity and the inclusion of every individual. She is a long-time employee of Procter & Gamble. Her career covers both Finance and HR, and she has worked for P&G in Toronto, Cincinnati, Brussels and Geneva. Doreen currently is the HR Director for the European Home Care division which makes Air Care, Dish Care and Surface Care products to improve consumer’s lives.
For the last 5 years, Doreen has been the co-leader of GABLE Europe team. GABLE is P&G’s affinity group for the equality and inclusion of LGBT+ employees. In this role, Doreen has created awareness and support both within the HR community and with senior leaders – this has resulted in a great number more allies and visible leadership commitment. This creates the right receptive context for engaging employees about the unique needs of our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees in the workplace, so we can foster a more inclusive employment experience.
Doreen leads a network of 12 GABLE teams across P&G’s European markets. In addition to internal events, the network participated in 10 Pride events this summer with significant company support and employee participation. A highlight was Geneva Pride, with over 200 attendees including 7 senior leaders.
In recent years, P&G have become increasingly vocal about our LGBT+ inclusive employee practices. In 2014 we proudly supported marriage equality in the US, one of the first Fortune 500 companies to do so. Some of our brands have LGBT+ inclusive themes in their advertising campaigns. Examples include Vicks India (featuring a transgender mum); Head & Shoulders shampoo (featuring a gay Olympic athlete and a rainbow flag); Pampers (featuring two dads) and Venus female razors (featuring a transgender woman, a lesbian, and skin with tattoos). We believe in the importance of serving all the world’s consumers, and this includes LGBT+ consumers.
